1. Initial Inspection
- Carefully unpack and inspect your fibreglass parts for any shipping damage.
- Ensure all parts are present and match your vehicle's specifications.
2. Pre-Fit Preparation
- Clean the area of your vehicle where the fibreglass part will be installed. Remove any dirt, grease, or debris that could affect adhesion or fitting.
- Dry-fit the part to assess alignment, gaps, and potential adjustments. This step will help identify any areas requiring trimming or modifications.
3. Trimming and Adjustments
- All installations are different, this is why your part will come with some additional length/width in areas to allow for various fitting needs. Carefully trim excess material using a Dremel tool or a fine-toothed saw.
- Sand the edges using fine-grit sandpaper (150-320 grit) to achieve a smoother finish and ensure your desired fit.
- Test the part again to check for improvements after trimming.
4. Sanding and Smoothing
- Sand the entire surface lightly with 320-grit sandpaper to prepare it for priming and painting.
- Pay special attention to edges and corners, making sure they are smooth and conform to the vehicle’s body lines.
5. Securing the Part
- Attach the part temporarily using clamps or masking tape to secure it in place before drilling.
- Mark the mounting points accurately and drill small pilot holes if required.
- Use proper fasteners or adhesive as per your vehicle’s needs to secure the part permanently. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines if using bonding agents.
6. Finishing Touches
- Fill any small gaps or imperfections with body filler and sand smooth once it has dried.
- Wipe down the part with a tack cloth to remove any dust before priming.
- Apply primer suitable for fibreglass, followed by your preferred paint finish.
7. Final Fit Check
- Once painted and dry, fit the part back on the vehicle to ensure that alignment and aesthetics meet your expectations.
- Make any final adjustments if needed.
8. Installation Completion
- Tighten all fasteners securely and check that the part is stable and properly fitted.
- Polish and wax the newly installed part if desired to blend seamlessly with the rest of your vehicle.
Note: Due to the nature of fibreglass, minor variations can occur. Custom fitting and adjustments are common to achieve a perfect fit. Always wear appropriate safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, and a mask when working with fibreglass materials.
